Anthony earned his undergraduate degree with highest distinction from the University of Maine in Orono in 1980 and graduated cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law in 1983. He is admitted to practice in the Maine State Courts, the United States District Court for the District of Maine, and the United States Court of Federal Claims in Washington, D.C., where he represents clients in Vaccine Court.
He began his legal career as a Law Clerk for the Maine Supreme Judicial Court before joining private practice. In 1986, Anthony joined Fales & Fales, P.A., where he now serves as a co-owner alongside his wife, Jennifer Nichols Ferguson,
